Enufism, religions and Utopia

Updated: 2 days ago

Enufism is not to be confused with Utopia or religions (although if you want a refresher on the latter, please watch this short video).

Unlike man-made religions which, with some exceptions, worship a god, enufism is all about our personal connection with planet earth nature and the universe.

No two people are identical in their views and emotions about earth, nature and universe. And why should they? Each person has their own way of appreciating the wonders of this world. Some adore the sea, others mountains, some are animal lovers, others adore the beauty of birds, and some take great pleasure in star-gazing. The list goes on.

What unites us (or at least those who love our world, as there are sadly many who see it only as something to be abused and exploited) is a deep appreciation and respect for the natural world in all its forms.

And to my mind it's therefore entirely logical that we should want to take positive steps in our lives to protect earth, nature and the universe, because if we don't, sure enough they will continue to degrade and eventually disappear.

The positive steps I mention can include using our vote (for those of us lucky enough to still live in democracies) to support political parties that in turn can pass laws to protect nature, prevent cruelty to animals, diminish atmospheric and other polution, and so on.

We Enufists believe we can all also play our individual parts in the noble aims of protecting and enhancing earth, nature and universe by how we live our lives, in terms of personal consumption and personal travel, for example.

We don't need politicians to tell us to avoid fast fashion, and over-indulgence in what we eat, and how and where we travel, but it is good to know there are many others like us to compare notes with, shares ideas with, and to generally encourage each other to modify, if not change, our ways.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with moral support!

I've said elsewhere that I don't believe just having more makes us any happier. You've only got to look at old movies to see that people enjoyed themselves, and felt more inwardly fulfilled, with far less than we have these days.

One example is kid. Years ago we were happy with just a few toys, and to kick a ball around in the street. Nowadays the young are more frequently found in their bedrooms, eyes glued to their smartphones, while gradually putting on the pounds and kilos and becoming unfit.

I'm not seeking to be a killjoy by the way! People need fun and relaxation, and that throughout history that's been the case. There's nothing wrong with owning a car, but do we need today's over-gadgetted and over-priced models, as just one example? Is it just to show off to neighbours and friends, because if it is, it doesn't impress them at all!

Air travel is another example where we believe things have gone too far. Too many low-cost flights to other cities, and even countries, which have sadly been disastrously homogenised in recent years.

And yet advanced western societies still believe it's good to rip up more land, and displace more people from their homes, just to make way for a new runway and terminal to service these mind-numbing voyages to nowhere land!

Of course we need money to live, but don't please keep scrambling for more in the modern rat-race. It's bad for the planet, and bad for your health. Stress is a real killer! Enjoy a calmer life. It's better for you, and better for nature (which you'll have time to enjoy).

We need to rethink life, as the centuries old capitalist system has become a wrecking ball to human existence. Don't believe the super-rich who would have you grind your life away in the service of their monolithic corporations.

What we are proposing isn't communism either (as that was a flop). It's all about slowing down and modifying our lives. Join us now in our quest for a better way of living, in order to make oursleves happier and fulfilled, whilst protecting earth, nature and even the universe!
