More is something we've come to expect, and we're always told the road to that is more economic growth. But why, when for many thousands of years before the Industrial Revolution unleashed its forces, people lived without growth?
Whilst it is a hard sell to suggest to people that they can not expect to have yet more holidays abroad, yet more gadjets like the latest iPhone, yet more food to make already overweight populations ever more corpulent, frankly the sooner we change our ideas the better.
Does anyone seriously believe that fast fashion, junk food and tick-list air travel to yet more homogenised destinations (think Starbucks everywhere) make for a better life?
